Hand Embroidery Tutorial - Cable Stitch

The Cable Stitch is a hand embroidery stitch that creates a raised, cable-like effect. It is typically used to create a textured or decorative border or to add interest to a background. To work the Cable Stitch, you will need a needle and thread, and a fabric to embroider on.

Here are the basic steps for working the Cable Stitch:

Begin by making a small knot at the end of your thread. Bring your needle up through the fabric at the starting point for your cable.

Insert the needle back into the fabric a short distance away from the starting point, making sure to angle the needle in the same direction as the first stitch.

Bring the needle back up through the fabric a little further away from the second stitch.

Bring the needle down again through the fabric at the end of the first stitch and bring it out at the end of the second stitch.

Repeat steps 2-4 to create a cable-like effect.

Once you reach the end of your cable, bring the needle back through the fabric and make a small knot to secure the thread.

Note: You can adjust the spacing and size of your stitches depending on the desired look. And like any other stitch, it's good to practice before you start your actual project.
